Configure Data Type Models

Defining the Data Model, including the form customization, can only be done from the Configuration Tools. In the Configuration Tools click on the Data Type Models section in the Data group on the navigation bar.

Configuration Tools - Data Type Models

The Models section shows all the customizable data models. We can see some variances:

  • The Case is a data type that supports subtypes (Case Type). Here, fields are customizable on the level of the case, but are included/excluded as part of a Case Type (and not directly on the Case).
  • The Default Case Type (as with any additional case types that may be added) is a Case Type which includes a subset of fields of Case.
  • The remainder of the models are types that support some customization and no subtypes. Here, fields can be customized and are included/excluded directly on the type model.

The different types of models, as described above, determines what can be seen and what actions can be taken in changing the data model.

  • The Type Model tab allows you to see and edit the fields in the selected model
  • Form Customization allows you to design the form agents will see based on the fields set up in the Type Model tab.
  • Customization Types (Case only) allows you to create new subtype (in this case, Case Types).

The available actions and behavior of these actions are determined by classification (as above) of the selected model, and the selected field in the model.

  • Viewing the Type Model on the Case level will show fields over all subtypes: based on the selection drop down on the right, either fields already set up but not in use, or fields in use by any subtype (Case Type).
  • Form customization is not available for the Case directly, since a case will always be viewed in the context of a subtype.
  • You will be able to add fields on the Case level which will include a section in the wizard to add the relevant fields to the available case types.
  • Fields can only be removed from types without subtypes, and subtypes itself (that is, not on the Case level itself). The edit wizard, however, can be used on the Case level to remove fields from subtypes.
  • The fields show their respective customization capabilities on the right. Fields without the necessary capabilities will not be editable. Customization Properties
